Drawing on her background as a sculpture conservator in leading Australian and US cultural institutions, Liz is inspired by the inventive use of materials, colour, and texture found in Indigenous Australian and Contemporary Asian and Pacific art.

The Dragonfly: A Symbol of Deepening Awareness

The dragonfly often symbolizes transformation of a different kind than the butterfly—not a complete reinvention, but a deepening of awareness. It’s tied to clarity, adaptability, and seeing beyond illusion, since its shimmering wings and darting flight seem to shift with the light.

In many cultures, dragonflies represent change that happens within—emotional growth, self-realization, and learning to live more fully in the present moment.

Once, beside a still pond, a young girl would sit and watch the water, believing it showed her the world exactly as it was. One afternoon, a dragonfly hovered near her, its wings catching the sunlight in flashes of blue and gold. As it skimmed the surface, the reflection rippled and broke, and for a moment, everything looked distorted. Frustrated, she tried to smooth the water, but the dragonfly kept dancing just out of reach. Finally, she stopped and simply watched. She noticed how the dragonfly never fought the wind or the shifting surface—it adjusted, moved, and continued forward with ease.

Over time, she realized the pond had never been a perfect mirror, only a changing one. And like the dragonfly, she didn’t need the world to stay still to understand it—she only needed to learn how to see clearly through the movement.

Meet The Artist

Flockbywild is an Australian fashion accessories label where heritage, artistry, and sustainability converge. Founded by Liz Wild, a designer with a lifelong devotion to fashion, textiles, pattern, and color, the brand reimagines vintage luxury silk ties as contemporary wearable art.

Drawing on more than three decades as a sculpture conservator at leading cultural institutions in Australia and the United States,  Liz brings a rare depth of technical expertise to her craft. Her work preserving Indigenous Australian, Contemporary Asian, and Pacific artworks has shaped a nuanced understanding of material, texture, and storytelling, informing every piece she creates.

Each Flockbywild accessory is handcrafted in small batches from vintage luxury ties produced by houses such as Hermès, Chanel, Gucci, Burberry, and Ferragamo. Celebrated for their vibrant hues, sophisticated prints, and enduring silk quality, these textiles are thoughtfully combined and contrasted to create cuff bracelets, earrings, and hair accessories that feel both timeless and unexpected.

At its core, Flockbywild is an act of renewal—honouring the history embedded in luxury materials while giving them new life through imaginative contemporary design. I was very excited about this clever concept. I feel this is a fun and responsible way to use luxury textiles. The execution sadly fails with the ‘ crystal’ or whatever material it is, drop part. It looks very cheap and therefore takes away from the earrings as a whole.

It was not quite as exciting as I thought it would be. Good idea, but the leather strap is way too long for my Hermes Evelyne. I had to wrap it around the strap hardware several times. The quality of the charm itself is nice though.

for the price, it just looks like cheap cloth bag. The other side is not even the same 'GUCCI' print. I have the regular Gucci bag with the flowers and I thought the silk scarf version might be cute for evening. I have never seen a scarf with that design BUT ,I may have missed it. The fabric does not feel like silk and the velvet flip side was disappointing. I do love the cuff I got, but in general I think for what I am getting, the price is not worth it.

This particular vintage Gucci scarf is made from a silk and modal blend as indicated in the description. The vintage scarf is also only on the front side of the bag with a velvet paisley on the reverse as shown in the photographs.
