Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermès Magic Kelly scarf, designed by Dimitri Rybaltchenko in 2011, celebrates the iconic Kelly bag and its connection to Grace Kelly. The scarf features stars and sparkles with contrasting hems, evoking a sense of magic and joy. The scarf's design also alludes to the history of the Kelly bag, which evolved from a saddle bag prototype in 1892 to the redesigned version known today, popularized when Grace Kelly famously used it to conceal her pregnancy.

The Kelly bag's history dates back to 1892, when Hermès created a prototype to carry saddles. It was modernized in the 1920s and redesigned in the 1930s, eventually becoming the Kelly bag we recognize today.

In the 1950s, costume designer Edith Head introduced Grace Kelly to Hermès, and she became enamored with the brand. She particularly loved the Petit Sac à Courroies (later known as the Kelly bag).

In 1956, photos of Grace Kelly using the bag to conceal her pregnancy were published, leading to the bag being named the Kelly bag in her honor.

The Magic Kelly scarf, designed by Dimitri Rybaltchenko, celebrates this iconic bag and its history. It's known for its vibrant colors, sparkling details, and the way it captures the magic associated with the Kelly bag and Grace Kelly's story.
