One-of-a-kind works of art reimagined from the world’s finest collection of vintage Hermès scarves.  Each piece is unique, handcrafted in our Lexington KY atelier – never to be repeated.

The story behind the Hermès Ex-Libris scarf begins with Émile-Maurice Hermès, who in 1923 chose a design by Alfred de Dreux, "Duc attelé, groom à l'attente," to be his personal library's emblem. This emblem, which features a horse and groom and symbolizes the house's equestrian origins, was combined with the caduceus of the god Hermes and carriages from the Emile Hermès collection by artist Hugo Grygkar to create the iconic Ex-Libris design for a scarf in 1946.

The scarf's name and its imagery honor the custom of personalizing books with an owner's mark and nod to Hermès's heritage as a saddle and harness maker.
