The Hermès Ex Libris scarf tells the story of Émile-Maurice Hermès's personal bookplate, a tradition among book lovers to mark ownership. In 1923, Émile-Maurice chose a design called "Duc attelé, groom à l'attente" by Alfred de Dreux to be his ex-libris. This design, featuring a horse-drawn carriage and a groom, became the emblem of the house and has been featured on various Hermès scarves.
