Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermes La Marche du Zambèze scarf tells the story of a partnership between Hermes and the Ardmore collective of African ceramic artists. The design features a central elephant, symbolizing family and strength, surrounded by animals and flora inspired by the Zambezi River region. It also marks the beginning of a collaboration between Hermes and Ardmore, a group of Zulu, Zimbabwean, and Sotho artists according to Hermès.

A majestic elephant, a symbol of family and power, dominates the design. Giraffes, zebras, leopards, and crocodiles gather around the elephant, evoking the river's ecosystem. The scarf includes depictions of the river's plants, adding to the scene's authenticity.

The scarf celebrates the work of Ardmore, a collective of artists known for their unique style and reinvention of traditional art forms.
