The Hermès Musée scarf was first issued in 1962 and pays tribute to Émile Hermès's vast collection of art and artifacts. This collection, housed above the Hermès flagship store, is now informally called the Émile Hermès Museum.

The scarf, designed by Philippe Ledoux, showcases many of the items from this collection, though the museum itself is not open to the public.
