1974 & 1993

The Hermès Luna Park scarf, designed by Joachim Metz in 1993, celebrates the nostalgic charm of amusement park carousels. Specifically, it pays homage to the carousel that operated at the Luna Park amusement park in Brooklyn, New York, from 1909 to 1946. The scarf features detailed depictions of carousel horses adorned with intricate harnesses and decorative elements. It is a jacquard silk scarf, a technique Hermès discontinued in 2001, making these scarves particularly sought after by collectors.

The Hermès Les Sangles scarf, designed by Joachim Metz, draws inspiration from the functional world of equestrian equipment. Specifically, the scarf's design is based on a catalog of stable gear from the late 19th century, featuring straps used to secure blankets on horses, particularly during colder weather or travel. Metz cleverly translated these functional elements into a visually appealing and modern design.
