    Story Behind The Scarf

The Hermès Tohu Bohu scarf, designed by Claudia Stuhlhofer-Mayr, is known for its playful design that spells out the address of the iconic Hermès flagship store in Paris.

The spiritual meaning of the Hermes Tohu Bohu scarf is linked to the Biblical concept of "tohu wa-bohu," a Hebrew phrase found in the book of Genesis. "Tohu wa-bohu" translates to "without form and void," describing the primordial state of the earth and the universe before divine creation. In this state, everything is unformed, unorganized, and awaiting divine structure and meaning.

The specific design features concentric circles and vibrant colors, which some may interpret as reflecting the playful and chaotic nature of the "tohu wa-bohu" state. Additionally, the scarf contains the letters of the abbreviated address of the Hermes flagship store in Paris within the design, which might be a nod to the concept of order and structure within the chaos.

    FROM THE FOUNDER

I won't list a piece I wouldn't put in my own home. Twenty years of luxury retail taught me what authentic looks like — and what doesn't.
